Before You Begin

It is very important that you do not try to force yourself to produce a saliva sample. Please do not cough anything up from your chest and please don’t sniff anything back from your nose and into your mouth.

This test is designed to test saliva that naturally pools in your mouth (for example when you think about a delicious meal).

For at least 30 minutes before saliva collection, it is important that you DO NOT:

Eat or drink
Smoke
Clean your teeth
Chew gum
Use nasal sprays

Doing any of these activities could cause you to get an incorrect result.

Collection Kit Materials

In addition to these instructions, you should receive:

One (1) identifying information form
One (1) labeled screw-cap collection tube
One (1) Funnel
One (1) single-use alcohol wipe
One (1) biohazard bag

How To Collect Saliva

Before providing your sample, first carefully read through the instructions below to familiarize yourself with how to provide a good saliva sample for testing.

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or clean them with alcohol- based sanitizer.
Remove everything from the collection kit, place them in front of you and set the bag aside. Avoid touching the inside of the funnel.
Confirm that the label either on the outside of the kit or on the collection tube matches your personal details. If the kit is labeled and the collection tube has a blank label, fill in the information requested (name, date of birth, etc.) on the collection tube label.
Record your name, date of birth and the collection date and time on the identifying information form
- NOTE: if you do not record these details, your sample may not be accepted for testing.
Pick up the funnel and the collection tube and position yourself as shown to the left.
Swallow once to clear your mouth.
Imagine eating your favorite food, think about an upcoming meal or even a sour lemon and allow saliva to pool in your mouth – be patient and this will start to collect!
- Remember to avoid coughing or sniffing.
Hold the funnel up so that it surrounds your mouth and gently release the saliva that has pooled in your mouth into the funnel.
- Please do not ‘spit’ as this can cause droplets or aerosols to spray out at you.
The goal is to collect enough saliva so the tube is half-filled. Please note that any bubbles that may also collect in the tube do not count towards the final volume.
- You may have to repeat this process a couple of times until the tube is half-full.
- Be patient, don’t force it and just keep thinking about food and you’ll get there!
Once you have collected enough saliva, unscrew the funnel from the collection tube and tightly screw the cap back onto the collection tube.
- Ensure the cap is secure before proceeding to the next step.

With The Cap Securely Fastened

Use the alcohol wipe to wipe your hands and the collection tube, but DO NOT wipe the printed part of the label.
Place the closed collection tube into the biohazard bag.
Discard the alcohol wipe and used funnel.
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or clean them with alcohol-based sanitizer.
Return your sample to the collection point specified by your healthcare provider or testing laboratory, making sure to keep your sample out of direct sunlight.

This product has not been FDA cleared or approved, but has been authorized for emergency use by FDA under an EUA;
This product has been authorized only for the detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, not for any other viruses or pathogens; and

Antes de Empezar

Es muy importante que no intentes forzarte a producir una muestra de saliva. Por favor, no toses nada de tu pecho y no inhales nada de tu nariz hacia tu boca.

Cómo Recoger Saliva

Antes de proporcionar tu muestra, primero lee cuidadosamente las instrucciones a continuación para familiarizarte con cómo proporcionar una buena muestra de saliva para el análisis.

Lávese las manos con agua y jabón durante al menos 20 segundos o limpielas con desinfectante a base de alcohol.
Retire todo del kit de recolección, colóquelo frente a usted y deje la bolsa a un lado. Evite tocar el interior del embudo.
Confirme que la etiqueta en el exterior del kit o en la colección tube coincide con sus datos personales. Si el kit está etiquetado y la colección tubo tiene una etiqueta en blanco, complete la información solicitada (nombre, fecha de nacimiento, etc.) en la etiqueta del tubo de recolección.
Registre su nombre legal completo, fecha de nacimiento y la fecha de recolección y tiempo en el formulario de información de identificación NOTA: si no registra estos detalles, es posible que su muestra no sea aceptada para las pruebas.
Toma el embudo y el tubo de recolección y colóquese como se muestraabajo.
Trague una vez para limpiar su boca.
Imagina comer tu comida favorita, piensa en una próxima comida oincluso un limón agrio y permite que la saliva se acumule en tu boca: ¡ten paciencia y esto comenzará a acumularse!
- Recuerde evitar toser o oler
Sostenga el embudo hacia arriba para que rodee su boca y la saliva que se ha acumulado en su boca en el embudo.
- Por favor, no 'escupir'.
El objetivo es recolectar suficiente saliva para que el tubo se llene hasta la línea roja. Tenga en cuenta que cualquier burbuja que también pueda acumularse en el tubo no cuenta para el volumen final.
1. Es posible que deba repetir este proceso un par de veces hasta que el tubo esté medio lleno.
2. Sea paciente, no lo fuerce y siga pensando en la comida y obtendrá ¡allá!
Una vez que haya recolectado suficiente saliva, retire el embudo del tubo de recolección y vuelva a enroscar firmemente la tapa en el tubo de recolección.
- Asegúrese de que la tapa esté segura antes de continuar con el siguiente paso.

Con La Tapa Bien Sujeta

Use la toallita con alcohol para limpiarse las manos y el tubo de recolección,
pero NO limpie la parte impresa de la etiqueta. Coloque uno de los códigos de
barras incluidos en su equipo en el tubo de recolección. Escriba su nombre
legal completo y fecha de nacimiento en el tubo.
Coloque el tubo de recolección cerrado en la bolsa de riesgo biológico.
Deseche la toallita con alcohol y el embudo usado.
Lávese bien las manos con agua y jabón o límpiese con un desinfectante a
basede alcohol.
Devuelva su muestra al buzón.
